How to keep your pool sparkling: tips from Charlotte’s most reliable pool contractors

Once a week

1.       Add pool shock to your pool to disinfect the water and break down any organic material.  You can follow the directions on the pool shock label or call one of Charlotte’s most reliable pool contractors, Carolina Pool Plastering to determine the correct ratio for your pool.  Following a rainstorm or extremely hot temperatures, you may need to add additional pool shock to your pool water.

2.       Give your pool a maintenance dose of algae prevention.

3.       Using a brush, clean all of the walls in the pool thoroughly.

4.       Use a pool vacuum to clean the pool’s floor.

Twice a week

1.       Use test strips to check the pH levels.  They should be between 7.4 and 7.6.  You can also measure the chlorine levels which should be between one to three parts per million.

2.       Clean and empty the filter baskets.

3.       Use a pool surface cleaner to clean the tile work at the water line.   

4.       Use a skimming tool to remove insects, leaves, and any other floating debris from the water’s surface.
