Pool deck options
Let’s talk about our choices as far as pool decks are concerned. There are a number of materials to use for our pool decks. We have:
- Concrete – durable, budget-friendly and low maintenance. Can be installed either stamped, colored, exposed aggregate or stenciled. This is easy to install and are attractive when finished.
- Wood and stone – a timeless option. Using wood blends our pool decks with the natural environment that’s why many are arguing that the natural look of stone and wood is unbeatable. With this option, we can choose to have curves and twists that will fit with the landscape and at the same time enhance the surrounding flora and fauna. While this option costs more, there is no denying of its superior attractiveness.
- Tile – takes the prize when talking about popularity among pool deck materials. They are attractive, comes in many sizes, design and colors. However, tiles tend to retain heat and so are not suitable for hot summers. It may not be a good idea to have the entire pool deck to be covered with tiles.
- Brick pavers – timeless and elegant. It is said that nothing is more elegant than a paved brick walkway. You can just imagine how beautiful it is to have brick pavers on our pool decks! In fact, some people opted to use brick pavers for their entire pool deck. Beauty and elegance comes with a price. This makes this option a bit more expensive than the others.
Aside from basing our decision on price and looks, it is
also wise to consider the environment and design of our pools when choosing
pool deck materials. Like the old saying, the whole is greater than the sum of
its parts. When pool design comes together perfectly with pool deck design and
material, the result is fantastic! It could be more beautiful than anticipated.
